Mandy
On Tuesday, 21 Sep 09, my rescue friend found a small Terrier female out lost, who almost ran into traffic. She was dirty, disoriented, afraid, thin, hungry, and thirsty. She seems about 8 to 10 months old. My friend took her home, but she is very afraid and flinches when you go to pet her, as if she's been hit often. She weights about 17 pounds and is very gentle, just wanting to be held. She is very still, freezes when being petted. She doesn't make a noise, has been sleeping a lot, and just starting to eat larger meals - as if her tummy had been empty a long time. A flyer was left with the Police and pound to see if anyone will claim her, although we highly doubt it.
She doesn't mind cats at all. She might be an indoor doggie, but my friend can't keep her indoors, so she has to sleep out on the porch. My friend tries to give her a lot of blankets, as it's starting to get cooler at night. She sleeps in the utility room with the baby gate up, until it's time for my friend to go to bed; then my friend puts her out in case she wants to pottie. My friend is calling her "Mandy". She's such a gentle little girl.
The pictures are from after her bath. She is getting better now; has had three days of good food, water, and vitamins. Every dog bone she gets she hides for later. Poor thing. My friend and her husband aren't home enough to be dog people, and can't keep her.
